Our Family History

Welcome!

Welcome to the genealogy of the Smutek-Brogan Family. It is centered around my father, John Smutek, and my mother, Rita Brogan. For the most part it traces back to when my mother's ancestors came from Ireland in the mid 19th century and when my father's ancestors came from Czechoslovakia in the early 20th century.

It is based on many decades of research by my wife Kathy Smutek (lately with a little help from me, Mike Smutek). Both the genealogy research and this web site are works in progress. At the present time the Brogan tree has been "debugged" more than the Smutek tree. We would be grateful for any contribution of additional information, stories, photographs, or anything of interest. We would also appreciate any and all corrections and apologize in advance for any mistakes it may contain.

Hint: to see extended families in a chart including aunts, uncles, and cousins, it is useful to pick a common ancestor and select the descendants chart for that ancestor.
